Attention, MAJOR spoiler for that book.

So I spend some hours reading this book and in the end, the girl with OI drowns? She drowns. Which has nothing to do with her disability whatsoever, or with the lawsuit, or with anything that's been written in the book, for that matter.
THAT'S WHAT IT IS ABOUT?
I feel cheated on. Sorry, but that ending was the stupidest I've read, not at all fitting to the rest of the story.
As good as the book was before... the ending completely ruined it for me.

I'm reading the book Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult and it's so freaking interesting °_°
It's about a family with a daughter that has osteogenesis imperfecta, a genetic disposition that makes your bones so brittle they break very easily, and about her mother who files a wrongful birth lawsuit against her obstetrician (who's her best friend) to ensure a good future for her daughter, financially. It's written just as the book title suggests. The author has really put much care into portraying all the characters in a way that you understand them.
Every chapter is from another character's point of view and though I usually don't like that, this time I think it's great to peak into all of their minds. It really gives you a round picture of the whole situation. How the mother tries to save her one daughter - but kind of destroys the life of her other daughter. How she gives up her best friend because she thinks it's best for her daughter with OI. How the father is absolutely against that lawsuit because he refuses to openly say he would have had his daughter aborted.
When my friend lent me that book I never thought I'd like it that much.

Yes. I'm a very very bad girl. I have bought four hard-cover books today.
Jus' 'cause I'm that awesome. *coughs*
Well, they cost about 3€ each, so it wasn't that much. But still... My guilty conscience always nags at me. I have the feeling I can't spend ANY money for something I just want, only for things I really need.
Yes, money is evil. It drives me mad.
And the consequences... well, I'll have to starve for the rest of the week. No hot meals for me.
But those books are worth it!

Anyway... this brings me to the books that I bought. I found a Zorro novel. The first that was published of Zorro. And I just needed to buy it. It practically forced me to!
And then my friend that has been with me there made the mistake to point me towards the classical books published by Anaconda... and they only cost 3€ and were hard-cover... and they stared at me... I had to buy some. Well, at least I didn't buy every one available there (which was very tempting).
What I decided on in the end were "Irrungen Wirrungen" (sorry, don't know that title in English), "The strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", and "The Misanthrope".
And I'm so happy the whole day. New books always manage to cheer me up immensely.

And another topic: my professor in methodology is so cute. If he were a dog I'd adopt him. Honestly.

"Psychologists explain, which many people want, predict - I don't know who wants that actually - and manipulate, which everyone wants. Except for scientists - they explain and predict, because they don't have much time for manipulating. Instead they are manipulated, which is also very nice *pointed look*."

And... "The force power is strong in all of us" might sound like something right out of Star Wars. Which it isn't. It's right out of our professors mouth.

I really can't express how amused I always am after his lectures. Or in his lectures.

"I'm of the opinion that School grades don't measure anything at all."

Take that, teachers! xD

I have watched four movies this weekend. One on Friday and three on Saturday.
cut for sparing you my thoughts on those movies )

So, yeah. My brother's girlfriend and I somehow ended up discussing which books we had read at school and she promised me to lend me some of them <3 Yay.
I'm also trying to get my brother to read "The picture of Dorian Gray", but he's really stubborn. Damn brother xD

Also, meine Liste:

- Brian Greene: Der Stoff, aus dem der Kosmos ist (deutsche Version, weil billiger xD)
- Gerhard Vollmer: Biophilosophie
- Steven Pinker: The Stuff of Thought

Yay~

I went to look for shoes and maybe a dress for my graduation ball with a friend of mine yesterday... and guess what I bought?
Earrings (which fit my barrette perfectly - I didn't have any in green, and well... I've been looking for some for AGES) and books XD I'm such a dork.

Well, what can I say? My friend loves bookshops as much as I do and we just couldn't go past them *cough* (she also bought books instead of clothes XD)
And Dürrenmatt's "Der Richter und sein Henker" and Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" looked at me in a way that I just HAD to take them with me *cough cough*

And I've got plenty of time for reading now that my Abitur is over ♥

On another note: My brother got me to play WoW again xD This time I'm an undead rogue x3
There are such freaks out there... Just type in "date my avatar" in youtube and you'll get what I mean xD Or "I play wow". Freaks, I tell you.

SQUEEEE

I'm done. I'm doooooooooooone!!! O_O
The last written exam. is. freaking. over.

I've got a present for my brother and - while at it anyway xD - ordered a manga <3
The Royal Doll Orchestra by Kaori Yuki (a little info here - the character descriptions contain spoilers, though, so just read the introduction text if you don't want to know everything beforehand ;) )
It's so great *_* I love her stories and her art and... and... it has a character with a pet hedgehog Q_Q *steals the hedgehog*
Yes, I admit, I've already read it *coughs* somewhere *coughs*.
What I know will irritate me to no end is that the name of one of the characters is Rutile in the German version while I've read the whole thing with him named Lucille... But whatever.

And I've read another manga *lol* It's called Kamisama Hajimemashita and, even though I don't like most shojo mangas, I really really like this one *_* It's just too cute and funny... and a bit fluffy, and that's exactly what I needed the last few days ♥

And I've read through The Picture of Dorian Gray again, just because the movie's in the cinema and I want to watch it... (which will maybe happen when it's out on DVD *drop*). Anyone seen it? Impressions? Was it a good book adaptation? *wants to knooow*

Oh, and I've bought Dracula (the book) some weeks ago, which takes my collection of penguin classic books to 6. They're so cheap *_* I think I'll buy another one tomorrow when I go pick up my manga and the present for my brother ♥
